Kanye West and P. Diddy better get their best bling out.
For Prince William and Prince Harry are sending a special envoy to the US to request an audience with the royalty of rap. The young royals are seeking out the performers to headline a gig this summer to celebrate the diamond jubilee of their grandmother Queen Elizabeth.
Given that the confirmed bill so far is made up predominantly of old timers like Paul McCartney, Elton John, Tom Jones, Cliff Richard and Shirley Bassey, their Grandmother’s gig could certainly do with an injection of glamour.
P Diddy and Kanye West are top of Harry and William’s list, according to a report in today’s Daily Mirror, after they performed for the Princes at the Concert for Diana in 2007. At the afterparty, Diddy showed the brothers his trademark Harlem handshake while Kanye tried – but failed – to get Harry to wear his white stripy shades. The princes’ musical envoy is British pop star Gary Barlow, a judge on the UK version of the X-factor.
