Prolific Playwright Neil Simon Dead at 91

Legendary playwright Neil Simon reportedly died Sunday morning at the age of 91. He was taken off life support after dealing with a spate of health problems, including a failing kidney and dementia, according to TMZ. Simon, widely regarded as one of the most prolific playwrights in the world, had penned dozens of plays and musicals, as well as screenplays. He won a Tony award for The Odd Couple, the 1965 play that paved the way to a film of the same name. He was also well-known for The Prisoner of Second Avenue, The Sunshine Boys and Promises, Promises. The first playwright to have a Broadway theater named after him, Simon had a slew of accolades, including a Pulitzer Prize, a Golden Globe Award, three Tony Awards, and the Kennedy Center Honor.
