Dozens of demonstrators swarmed a shopping mall Monday night in Hoover, Alabama, where a black man was fatally shot by police on Thanksgiving night. Cries of “No justice, no peace!” sounded as the crowd marched from the Hoover Police Department to Riverchase Galleria, calling for accountability in the death of Emantic “EJ” Bradford Jr. Police have said the Army veteran was killed after an officer mistook him for an active shooter. Protesters blocked traffic in both directions along the busy U.S. Highway 31 as they made their way to the mall, CBS 42 in Hoover reported. The rally came just hours after local police suggested Bradford was to blame for pulling out his gun as he fled the scene of an active shooting, saying he “heightened the sense of threat” to police officers. His father has said he had a permit to carry the weapon.
