Law and Order: SVU got some unexpected extras for its Occupy Wall Street episode when real protesters infiltrated the mock Zuccotti Park set. The show had been scheduled to film on a fake protest encampment set up in downtown New York, but around midnight real Occupy Wall Street protesters showed up. They crawled into the tents, poked through the library, and ate food from the kitchen. Police showed up and announced that the permit for the set had been revoked. An NBC spokesman tweeted that he understands “protesters’ fear of having their images and history co-opted by corporate media—the irony here is the scene we couldn’t shoot portrayed OWS in a sympathetic light.”
