Pulse Shooter Omar Mateen’s Wife Speaks Out for First Time

Noor Salman, the widow of Pulse shooter Omar Mateen, gave her first news interview with The New York Times this week, opening up about the days leading up to the massacre that killed 49 people in the Orlando gay nightclub. Salman describes her relationship with Mateen, who left her home that night and never returned. “I was unaware of everything,” she told reporter Adam Goldman. “I don’t condone what he has done. I am very sorry for what has happened. He has hurt a lot of people.” Salman described how her husband's actions have since made her "shattered" and "afraid" and how she now lives in fear of hearing his name on the television. She has reportedly moved three times since her husband committed the deadliest mass shooting in American history. “I just want people to know that I am human,” she said in the interview. “I am a mother.”
