Puppy-Killing ICE Barbie Mocked as She Poses With New Dog

Kristi Noem’s latest hunting photo has people fearing for the safety of her four-legged companion.

Kristi Noem caused a stir online after she posted a picture of herself, a hunting rifle, and a dog.

“Happy Opener, South Dakota! Foster and I wish you good luck in the field!” Noem wrote in her caption, alongside a photo apparently meant to celebrate the start of South Dakota’s pheasant hunting season.

“Pheasant hunting is part of who we are, and it’s a tradition worth passing on to our kids and grandkids,” Noem continued.

In her 2024 memoir, No Going Back, Noem famously wrote about taking her 14-month-old wirehaired pointer, Cricket, out to a pit on her property and shooting him.

Online commenters quickly expressed concern for Foster’s well-being.

“The worst possible thing you could post would be a dog and a gun, lady. Come on,” one X user wrote.

“Blink twice if you’re in danger,” wrote another, seemingly addressing Foster directly.

“You shouldn’t have any pets. Cricket remembers,” another said.

Foster, who has been a member of Noem’s hunting entourage since at least 2022, appears to be a favorite pup of the former Homeland Security chief.

In October 2022, before she told the world about executing Cricket, Noem posted a series of pictures of Foster on a pheasant hunt and bragged about his prowess.

“He pointed several birds and retrieved one that nobody could find,” Noem wrote.

“I’m eating a sandwich on the ride back to Pierre, he smells it, I tell him ‘no Foster,’ and he lays down and goes to sleep #perfectdog,” she said.

In her memoir, Noem wrote that Cricket was unruly and often misbehaved, and that she shot him because he killed a neighbor’s chickens and couldn’t be controlled.

“I hated that dog,” Noem wrote in the book.

The furor over the killing of Cricket reportedly contributed to Noem being dropped as a possible running mate on Trump’s 2024 ticket, and she furiously defended her decision to kill the puppy—as well as a goat that also got on her nerves.

Trump ultimately tapped Noem to head the Department of Homeland Security, where she earned the moniker “ICE Barbie” because of her penchant for attending ICE raids in full glam hair and makeup and cosplaying in various law enforcement uniforms.

Noem’s tenure was cut short by the president in March, after the fatal shootings of two American citizens by federal immigration officers in Minneapolis in January led to greater scrutiny of her office and conduct.

A series of public and personal scandals quickly engulfed the former South Dakota governor.

Through it all, Foster has apparently been there, perfectly well-behaved, sniffing out pheasants, and leaving sandwiches alone.

Perhaps he has heard what might happen if he acts out.

A representative for Noem did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
