Queen Elizabeth, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, has missed a New Year’s Day church service, just a week after she missed a Christmas Day mass over a cold. A Buckingham Palace spokesman released a statement Sunday saying the Queen has still not fully recovered. “The Queen does not yet feel ready to attend church as she is still recuperating from a heavy cold,” the statement said. The news comes amid concerns over what some suspect is the Queen’s seriously ailing health, after the 90-year-old missed her first Christmas service since 1988 last week. Prince Philip has also been ill but was able to attend both services.
