R&B Singer James Ingram Dies at 66

R&B artist James Ingram has passed away at the age of 66, CNN reports. Ingram's friend and creative partner, Debbie Allen, tweeted on Tuesday that Ingram was lost “to the Celestial Choir.” “He will always be cherished, loved and remembered for his genius, his love of family and his humanity. I am blessed to have been so close. We will forever speak his name,” she wrote. Ingram's cause of death is reportedly unknown. Ingram had a long history in music, and was nominated for 14 Grammy Awards—winning best male R&B performance in 1981 and best R&B performance for a duo or group in 1984. He also played keyboards for Ray Charles, and co-wrote the Michael Jackson hit “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)” with Quincy Jones.
