A new report from the Society of Associated Reproductive Technology out today reveals how pervassive in vitro fertilization (IVF) has become. In 2012, 61,740 babies conceived through reproductive technology were born in the U.S., 2,000 more than the previous year. Over 99 percent of those babies were conceived through in vitro fertilization (IVF). In total, over 1.5 percent of all births in 2012 were a result of IVF, an all-time high. More women are also using only single emrbyos to avoid multiple births. In 2007, just 4 percent of women under 35 used a single embryo for IVF, but it jumped to 15 percent in 2012.
