More than 80 iconic landmarks across 13 countries joined (RED) to promote awareness of the battle against the AIDS pandemic by turning red to mark World AIDS Day on Dec. 1. Bono kicked off the campaign in Sydney, leading to the illumination of landmarks from New York to South Africa time zone-by-time zone, finally ending with Los Angeles International Airport. (RED)’s goal is to end the mother-to-child transmission of HIV by 2015 to create the first generation of babies born HIV-free in 30 years.
