Muhammad Ali (born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. before his conversion to Islam) met with African-American Muslim minister and activist Malcolm X (born Malcolm Little), after Ali beat Sonny Liston in Miami in March 1964 to claim the world heavyweight championship.

American heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali walks through New York City with members of the Black Panther Party in September 1970. Ali was sentenced to five years in prison and his championship title revoked after he was convicted of draft evasion upon his refusal to serve in the American military in Vietnam upon grounds of conscientious objection.
