The FBI confirmed Wednesday evening that Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) was the intended recipient of two suspicious packages that had a “similar appearance” to ones sent to former government officials. “In addition to the five packages referenced in our earlier statement, we have now confirmed two additional packages, both addressed to Rep. Maxine Waters, that are similar in appearance,” the FBI tweeted. Earlier Wednesday, Waters confirmed she was a target of a suspicious package and said she referred the parcel to the FBI. “I unequivocally condemn any and all acts of violence and terror,” she said in a statement. Former President Barack Obama and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton were also sent suspicious packages that were intercepted earlier Wednesday. Former attorney general Eric Holder was the intended recipient of another package, but it was redirected to the parcel’s return address, which listed the office building of Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL). A package addressed to former CIA director John Brennan was also sent to CNN’s New York offices.
