Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) promised to step aside as Democratic leader by 2022 in an agreement with members of her party who objected to her becoming House Speaker for a second time, The Washington Post reports. Under the agreement, Pelosi will reportedly support a “three-term limit” for the top three House Democratic leaders. “I am comfortable with the proposal and it is my intention to abide by it whether it passes or not,” she said of the plan. The agreement also reportedly stipulates that a fourth term would only be possible if House members vote for it by a two-thirds majority. Pelosi was reportedly nominated as speaker by members of her party in a 203-to-32 vote last month—but many Democrats vowed to vote against her in January's upcoming decisive floor vote if she did not agree to further concessions, which prompted the term limit talks. At least six Democratic holdouts are expected to support Pelosi's bid for House Speaker following her announcement, according to the Post.
