Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) tendered his resignation from the House Ethics Committee to House Speaker Paul Ryan on Wednesday, CNN reports, after five years of serving on the panel. Gowdy said that after his appointment to the chairmanship of the House Oversight Committee, “four committee assignments, including a chairmanship, is a challenging workload.”
