At least 257 people have died in a military plane crash in Algeria, according to the country's defense ministry. The crash is reported to have happened on Wednesday morning at Boufarik military airport, an air force base near the country's capital of Algiers. Local TV news said 14 ambulances were at the scene and images posted on social media show smoke rising off a wreckage in a field. Four years ago 77 people died in a military plane crash in the north-east of the country.
