White House Chief Strategist Stephen K. Bannon personally appealed to Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly to try to stop him from issuing a waiver for President Trumpâs executive order, The Washington Post reported Saturday. The waiver would allow green-card holders from the seven Muslim-majority countries named in the executive order to be exempt from the travel ban. Kelly was planning on issuing the waiver last Saturday as protests were popping up at U.S. airports, and Bannon âpaid a personal and unscheduled visit to Kellyât office: Donât issue the waiver,â according to the Post. Kelly reportedly dismissed Bannonâs concerns and went ahead with the waiver the next day.
