Fox News co-president Bill Shine is leaving the network, Fox News CEO Rupert Murdoch confirmed Monday afternoon. "Sadly, Bill Shine resigned today. I know Bill was respected and liked by everybody at Fox News. We will all miss him. Suzanne Scott becomes President, Programming and Jay Wallace, President News," Murdoch wrote in a statement.

New York magazine reporter Gabriel Sherman first reported the news on Monday afternoon. Two Fox News sources reportedly told Sherman that Shine was out of the network as of Monday morning. "In recent days, per source, there was talk among Fox News women about circulating a petition inside the network calling for Shine's firing," Sherman reported. Shine, along with Jack Abernethy, became co-president of Fox News in Fall, after longtime network head Roger Ailes departed amid a wave of sexual assault allegations. Shine was accused of covering up for a number of sexual harassment cases within the network. On Friday, The Hollywood Reporter wrote that Shine’s presidency might be nearing its end, and that his employers “have put out feelers” for a new president, preferably a woman. Fox insiders previously told The Daily Beast that “the only way to fix this is for the Murdochs to clean house."
