Facebook’s information security chief is reportedly out at the social media giant. According to The New York Times, Alex Stamos clashed with his colleagues over the company’s efforts to stop the spread of fake news and disinformation. The Times reports that many of Stamos’ daily responsibilities were transferred to others last year and that Stamos often disagreed with other top executives on how to counter Russian election-meddling efforts on the platform. “Despite the rumors, I’m still fully engaged with my work at Facebook,” Stamos tweeted later Monday night. “It’s true that my role did change. I’m currently spending more time exploring emerging security risks and working on election security.
