Federal officials are reportedly probing hazing allegations at Newark Liberty International Airport involving Customs and Border Protection officers. NBC New York reports that employees were allegedly duct-taped to “rape tables” as part of incidents were part of initiation rituals among officers. “I’m afraid for my life, my safety,” officer Diana Cifuentes told NBC New York. “This is terrorizing. How is it that officers believe they’re free to do whatever they want to do?” CBP confirmed the investigation by the Department of Homeland Security’s inspector general. The officers reportedly said the abuse has been happening for years in a secure room in Terminal C where security cameras are monitored. “We do not tolerate corruption or abuse within our ranks, and we cooperate fully with all criminal or administrative investigations of alleged misconduct by any of our personnel, whether it occurs on or off duty,” a CBP spokesman said.
