Sgt. La David Johnson’s body was reportedly found nearly a mile away from the site where American troops were ambushed by ISIS fighters in Niger. According to CNN, officials are still investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the ambush, in which Johnson and three other Americans were killed. Johnson was missing for more than two days, as first reported by The Daily Beast. His body was recovered by Nigerien troops. Members of Congress have expressed deep dissatisfaction with the administration’s response—or lack thereof—to the attack. Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), the chairman of the Armed Services Committee, on Thursday threatened to block the Trump administration’s Pentagon nominees until defense officials are more forthcoming about what exactly happened.
