Officer Verdell Smith was struck and killed by a car allegedly driven by a triple shooting suspect on Saturday night in Memphis, Tennessee. Police spokesman Mike Rallings said 46-year-old Smith was trying to clear the street at the time that he was hit. The unidentified suspect allegedly shot three people in downtown Memphis and then fled, hitting Smith. No charges have been filed as of Sunday morning.
