The National Enquirer reportedly sent copies of its stories about Donald Trump to his personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, before they were published. The Washington Post, citing three people with knowledge of the matter, reports that the practice was employed during the presidential campaign and even after Trump assumed the presidency last January. “Since Trump’s become president and even before, [published David Pecker] openly just has been willing to turn the magazine and the cover over to the Trump machine,” one of the individuals told the Post, adding that the stories would be published “as long as there were no objections from” Cohen.
