Turkey has denied reports that senior officials played U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo an audio recording of Jamal Khashoggi’s alleged murder. One Turkish official had told ABC News the recording was played for Pompeo during Wednesday’s meetings in Turkey, and that Pompeo was given a “transcript of the recordings.” But Turkey’s foreign minister on Friday insisted his country has not shared any audio recordings from Khashoggi’s disappearance with U.S. officials. The state-run Anadolu Agency also quoted the minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, promising to share “with the world” the results of its investigation into Khashoggi’s disappearance. Pompeo strongly denied hearing any recording, saying: “I’ve heard no tape, I’ve seen no transcript.” He also attacked ABC News for its report, adding: “This is a very serious matter that we’re working diligently on, and so to put out headlines that are factually false does no one any good.”
