A prisoner has escaped from Rikers Island in New York, according to PIX 11. The facility is on lockdown and a large-scale search was underway Wednesday night. PIX 11 reported, citing law enforcement sources, that the individual jumped a fence at the Anna M. Kross Center and may be in the water surrounding the island. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has vowed to close the prison in the coming years.
