As part of a proposed rule now under review by the White House, the Trump administration would create a new “division” of the Department of Health and Human Services’ civil-rights office that would enforce protections for health-care workers who refuse to perform abortions or treat transgender patients, Politico reports. The rule, reportedly under close guard by the department, would empower workers who refuse to perform services they have a “moral objection” to. According to Politico, the policy could be announced as soon as this week.
