Some of President Donald Trump’s closest confidants are reportedly warning him that Michael Cohen, his longtime personal attorney, could “flip”—cooperate with the feds and testify against Trump, if he is faced with a potentially long prison sentence. Cohen’s home and office in New York were raided last week by the FBI, as federal prosecutors sought proof of his alleged fraud. “When anybody is faced with spending a long time in jail, they start to re-evaluate their priorities, and cooperation can’t be ruled out,” a Trump ally told Politico. The president has commented publicly on the raid, calling attorney-client privilege “dead.” Another longtime Trump attorney, Jay Goldberg, told The Wall Street Journal that he directly warned Trump about the possibility of Cohen flipping.
