In his furor to keep his word on cracking down on immigration earlier this year, President Trump once privately declared that of the 15,000 Haitians who’d received U.S. visas in 2017, they “all have AIDS,” The New York Times reports, citing two officials. The report describes an Oval Office meeting with the president in June attended by then-Homeland Security secretary John Kelly and U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, among other top officials. In a discussion on immigration and national security, Trump is said to have gone through a list breaking down how many immigrants entered the U.S. in 2017, disparaging several nationalities shown in the documents. Noting that 40,000 people had entered the country from Nigeria, Trump lamented that they would never “go back to their huts” after seeing life in America, two officials told the Times. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Saturday denied that Trump had ever made such comments, calling the allegations “outrageous claims.”
