President Trump will announce plans to phase out the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals immigration policy on Tuesday, ABC News reported. The administration will reportedly stop accepting new applications for legal status dated after Sept. 5 and some current DREAMers can apply for a two-year renewal to their permits. Officials noted that even if new protections for undocumented youth are not put in place, deportation efforts will still prioritize immigrants who have committed crimes. Ahead of the alleged announcement, Trump tweeted that it was up to Congress to address the program, which protects eligible undocumented youth from deportation.
