President Trump has reportedly expressed concerns to confidants about his son, Donald Trump Jr., facing trouble in the ongoing Russia investigation. A source cited by CNN late Saturday said the president has grown increasingly anxious after claims by his former fixer, Michael Cohen, that Trump knew in advance about the 2016 Trump Tower meeting with a Kremlin-linked lawyer —a statement that directly contradicts Donald Jr.’s testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee. Sources cited by The Washington Post offered similar accounts of the president’s thinking, saying he has told friends he fears special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation will ensnare “innocent and decent people” around him, particularly Donald Jr. According to that report, Trump believes that while his son did not intentionally break the law, he may have unwittingly opened himself up to legal troubles. The president has denied the claims, calling them a “complete fabrication” in a Sunday morning tweet. He also said the Trump Tower meeting to “get information on an opponent” was “totally legal and done all the time in politics.”
