One American News Network, a right-wing cable channel, announced Thursday it will file an amicus brief in favor of the Trump administration in CNN’s lawsuit over revoked White House press credentials for its reporter Jim Acosta. “Acosta’s actions are stopping our people from getting their questions answered, so that we can give our audience the real news direct from our President,” the network’s CEO said in a statement, noting how his network’s stance on the free-speech issue differs from Fox News, their more prominent right-wing competitor. “Can’t believe Fox is on the other side, but they have direct communication to the President. We are lucky if we get a five minute interview once a quarter.” OANN has repeatedly attempted to capitalize on the Trump era by taking an even more overt pro-Trump bend than Fox News, at one point hiring (and then firing) notorious ex-Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski along with other far-right firebrands and conspiracy theorists like Jack Posobiec.
