Right-wing TV network One America News concluded on Monday that there was “no evidence” that Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad’s regime carried out a chemical weapons attack earlier this month—after being granted a regime-led tour of the area. “Not one of the people that I spoke to in that neighborhood said that they had seen anything or heard anything about a chemical attack on that day,” the network’s correspondent there said, adding that the residents “loved Bashar al-Assad.” The correspondent also acknowledged that he was brought into the area by a “government escort.” The U.S. and its allies have said the chemical attack was carried out by the Assad regime. Over the weekend, the U.S., along with France and Great Britain, carried out airstrikes targeting the regime’s chemical weapons infrastructure.
