The family of Riley Strain, the Missouri college student who was missing for two weeks after visiting a Nashville bar, has ordered a second autopsy after his body was found in Cumberland River without some of the clothing he was wearing the night he disappeared. An initial autopsy conducted after Strain’s body was found in the river on March 22 indicated his death was just an accident, with no evidence of foul-play. But some puzzling details have the family pushing for further investigation, a family friend told NewsNation. While police confirmed Strain was still wearing his shirt from the night he disappeared, his body was missing his pants, wallet, and cowboy boots from that night. “The only thing that was found with him, as the police stated in the report, was the watch and the shirt,” friend Chris Dingman said. Many theorized that the student had fallen into the river and drowned after a night of heavy drinking with his fraternity brothers—but according to the medical examiner, Strain had no water in his lungs, suggesting he didn’t drown. Investigators continue to interview people Strain may have come into contact with as they try to piece together his last days.
