Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus announced on Saturday night that it would be ending its 146-run in 2017 with final performances in May. Kenneth Feld, whose company Feld Entertainment produces the circus, said in a statement that ticket sales had been declining and dropped even further when they took elephants out of the show last year. “This, coupled with high operating costs, made the circus an unsustainable business for the company,” the statement read. “The circus and its people have continually been a source of inspiration and joy to my family and me.”
