The fourth installment of Meet the Parents is on its way, actor Robert De Niro confirmed on Wednesday’s episode of The View. The beloved 2000s romantic comedy garnered enough momentum to justify its three prior sequels, with most of its original cast, and 4.0 will be no different with De Niro evidently returning to the franchise. When ABC host Sara Haines excitedly asked the 81-year-old, “Will you be involved?” he replied simply: “Yes.” The Goodfellas actor left it at that, providing no further details on the plot. De Niro will be accompanied by Ben Stiller, who famously played the new boyfriend of his daughter (Teri Polo) in the original 2000 comedy. The movie’s screenwriter, John Hamburg, will also be returning in the same role. While Haines didn’t push for spoilers, she revisited the first film, asking De Niro to share how the iconic lie detector scene came to be. De Niro, who recently discussed this with GQ, explained to the ABC hosts, “Yes, I got it from someone I knew who was in the CIA. And then I thought this is very interesting, maybe this is something we could do.”
