Robin Wright on Kevin Spacey: ‘We Were All Surprised’

Robin Wright, star of the hit show House of Cards, discussed for the first time the more than 15 allegations of sexual misconduct that have been leveled against former co-star Kevin Spacey. Speaking with NBC News’ Savannah Guthrie, Wright said that “We were coworkers, really. We never socialized outside of work….He was never disrespectful to me, so that's my personal experience. That’s the only thing that I feel I have the right to talk about.” Referencing the allegations, Wright said that “I think we were all surprised, of course, and ultimately saddened.” “We forged ahead and we were so thankful that we were able to complete the series as planned,” she added. The Hollywood Reporter adds that Spacey was removed from the show late last year, after Anthony Rapp accused him of making “unwanted sexual advances” towards him in 1986. A slew of other allegations quickly followed. In Spacey’s wake, Wright’s character took the lead—and the presidency. In response to Rapp’s accusation, Spacey apologized for his “inappropriate drunken behavior” and came out as gay—but he has denied the other accusations.
