Hard rock band Gel unexpectedly split after the New Jersey-based group’s guitarist allegedly committed “heinous acts”—stealing thousands of dollars and leaking nude photos of band members, the New York Post reported. “Gel is no longer a band, and therefore will not be playing any of our currently scheduled upcoming shows,” the band announced the breakup in a lengthy post on Instagram. They added that Anthony Webster stole an “unbelievable amount” of OnlyFans subscriptions before their scheduled performance at the Coachella music festival. Gel claimed that he did all this to better his personal music career which has caused “irreparable damage” to the band and its other members. “It’s affected us as human beings more than we can even attempt to explain, to the point of being completely unable to do the band anymore,” the post continued. Other members of the band include singer Sami Kaiser, bassist Matthew Bobko, guitarist Madison Nave, and drummer Alex Salter, according to Masslive.com. When Webster gained sole access to the group’s bank account, he allegedly used the money to pay his rent, for personal food orders, and “whatever else he really wanted.” The band also accused Webster of leaking a series of nude photos of band members on Reddit. The group likened their connection with Webster to being in an abusive relationship. Gel was formed in New Jersey in 2018 as a “side project” for the band Sick S---. They just completed an Australia tour earlier this year and were expected to perform a set during the Sunday lineup at Coachella, which Post Malone is headlining.
