Roger Stone Apologizes for Instagram Post About Judge

In a court filing Monday, Roger Stone apologized to U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson after he accused her of running a “show trial” in an Instagram post publicizing his legal defense fund. “Undersigned counsel, with the attached authority of Roger J. Stone, hereby apologizes to the court for the improper photograph and comment posted on Instagram today,” the notice of apology, obtained by BuzzFeed News, read. “Mr. Stone recognizes the impropriety and had it removed.” In the now-deleted post, Stone accused Jackson of running a “show trial” on behalf of “Deep State hitman” Special Counsel Robert Mueller. He also said Jackson was an “Obama-appointed judge who dismissed the Benghazi charges against Hillary Clinton and incarcerated Paul Manafort prior to his conviction for any crime.” Jackson recently placed a gag order on Stone and his attorneys, barring Stone from making public statements or speaking to the press in front of the federal courthouse in D.C. Stone pleaded not guilty to charges that include obstruction, witness-tampering, and false statements in Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
