Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta is stepping down in the wake of mass protests over a deadly nightclub fire that killed more than 30 people. Ponta will resign later Wednesday, according to Liviu Dragnea, the leader of the ruling Social Democratic Party. The announcement follows Tuesday's protest in Bucharest, where an upwards of 20,000 people protested and called for the resignation of the prime minister, the Interior Minister Gabriel Oprea and the mayor of a district where the nightclub was located. A fire broke out at the Colectiv nightclub on Friday during a heavy-metal concert, killing 32 and sending more than 130 to the hospital.
