Actress Rose McGowan was indicted Monday by a grand jury in Virginia in connection with cocaine possession charges dating back to last November. McGowan, who has been out on $5,000 bail since the charges were first filed, has denied the drugs were hers and said she believes they were planted.  The drugs were found in a wallet belonging to her that was left behind on a flight to Washington in January 2017, but the arrest warrant didn’t come to light until after she went public with sexual assault allegations against disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. Jose Baez, McGowan’s attorney, suggested the charges were part of an attempt to get back at her for her role in the #MeToo movement. “These charges would have never been brought if it weren’t for her activism as a voice for women everywhere,” Baez told TMZ. McGowan faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
