Roy Moore Countersues Accuser for ‘Slander and Defamation’

On Monday, lawyers for Roy Moore filed a countersuit against Leigh Corfman, accusing her of “slander and defamation,” according to a press release. “This is and has been a political attempt to smear the good name and reputation of Judge Roy Moore, and we will not let this injustice continue,” Melissa Isaak, one of Moore’s attorneys, said in a statement. Corfman filed a defamation lawsuit against Moore in January, accusing him of “making unwanted sexual advances at her when she was 14, and he was 32,” according to the Alabama News Network. Moore has tried to have the case dropped and moved to Etowah County from Montgomery County. Moore’s legal defense fund said in the statement that Corfman’s case is being tried in Montgomery County “for political reasons to hide the truth from the public about these false allegations.”
