Giuliani Held in Contempt Again: ‘I Really Hoped We Were Done’

CAN’T HELP IT

“I really hoped we were done,” the judge said during the ruling.

Rudy Giuliani speaks to the media after leaving the Fulton County jail on August 23, 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia. Giuliani is one of 19, including former President Donald Trump, facing felony charges in the indictment related to tampering with the 2020 election in Georgia who have been ordered to turn themselves in by August 25.

A judge found Rudy Giuliani in contempt of the court for making further defamatory remarks about two workers he claimed tampered with the 2020 presidential election. It is the second time this week that the former mayor and Donald Trump ally has been held in contempt by the court for an issue relating to the defamation case. A different judge ruled on Monday that Giuliani has failed to pay out any of the $148 million in money and assets that he owes the election workers. Giuliani said on his show in November that “they never let me show the tapes that show them quadruple counting the… ballots,” and that his tapes showed the election workers “passing these little… hard drives that we maintain were used to fix the machines.” The remarks, which Giuliani’s lawyer argued were not about the defamed workers, violated the agreement that Giuliani was not allowed to claim the mother-daughter duo “engaged in wrongdoing” related to the election. “I really hoped we were done,” the judge said during the ruling.
