Russia plans to relaunch patroling the southern seas with nuclear submarines 20 years after they were discontinued, a Russian news agency reported. The submarines each boast 16 long-range nuclear missiles and will be implimented over several years. "The revival of nuclear submarine patrols will allow us to fulfill the tasks of strategic deterrence not only across the North Pole but also the South Pole," an unnamed military official told the agency.
