A Putin-friendly Russian MMA fighter with ties to President Trump and his longtime attorney, Michael Cohen, has been questioned by the FBI, his manager said Saturday. Fedor Emelianenko was questioned by agents ahead of his heavyweight fight against Frank Mir on Saturday, according to manager Jerry Millen. “The FBI came to the hotel looking to talk to Fedor and they were very nice, came in to speak with Fedor for a few minutes, spoke to me, very cool guys, and that’s all I can really say about it. Again, the FBI did come to the hotel, they found us, knocked on the door,” he was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. He said he was “kind of surprised” by their visit. The agents also reportedly attended Saturday’s fight. No further details were available on the content of the agents’ discussion with Emelianenko. Trump’s ties to Emelianenko date back to 2008, when the fighter was signed by Affliction Entertainment, which Trump had ownership stakes in. Cohen served as chief operating officer of the fighting league at the time.
