CLOSE CALL

After smoke is reported from disabled train.

San Francisco’s commuter rail, BART, was evacuated Wednesday after smoke was reported from a disabled train in a tunnel that connects two stations. A BART spokesman said there was no fire, and the smoke came from a parking brake problem. The Rockridge station was evacuated, and that station and the Orinda station were both closed, stranding hundreds of passengers.
