The Gangway, San Francisco’s oldest continuously operating gay bar, has shut its doors for the final time. It will become the Kung Fu Action Theater & Laundry, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The haunt first opened in 1910—surviving even Prohibition—and began specifically catering to a gay clientele by 1960. Among its most notable frequenters: Harvey Milk. A former employee said the Gangway was “full of relics and homages to our struggle... a living museum.”
