An artist has completed altering a famous mural across the street from Penn State to replace a depiction of Jerry Sandusky. The likeness of the disgraced former football coach was covered by an image of Dora McQuaid, a Penn State graduate who is a poet and advocate for victims of domestic and sexual abuse. Her image was draped by a blue ribbon, which is a symbol of child sex-abuse awareness. Two red handprints, one belonging to a juror who convicted Sandusky and one to a sexual-abuse victim, also replaced the Sandusky image. Artist Michael Pilato first erased Sandusky’s image after his arrest in November but did not start painting the replacement image until Sunday.
