Sandy Hook Elementary School, the site of one of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history, was evacuated Friday morning—the sixth anniversary of the day of the horrific massacre that left 26 students and staff dead. Police said the threat was made around 9 a.m. ET and was found to be not credible. School was still dismissed for the day to err on the side of caution, police said. The elementary school’s former location was torn down in 2013. The threat was reportedly unrelated to the email bomb threats sent out to numerous U.S. cities Thursday. “Please stand with our community as we attempt to survive another tragic anniversary,” Newtown Action, a grassroots organization founded by Newtown residents after the shooting, posted on social media.
