High winds, heavy rains, extreme tides, and even snow: the “Frankenstorm” crippled the East Coast, delivering an especially powerful punch to New York City. Millions were left without power, streets and tunnels were flooded, the city’s 108-year-old subway system was brought to its knees, and 50 deaths along the East Coast were attributed to the storm. The superstorm wreaked havoc on the Caribbean, in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba and Haiti, where 51 people were killed. The storm weakened as it moved west, but there were still blizzard warnings in effect Wednesday for parts of Virginia. The Daily Beast takes a look at the damage already done.
