Asked Tuesday why President Trump doesn’t take Sen. Chuck Schumer’s advice and prove he’s not a “racist” by making a deal on DACA, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders called that an “outrageous claim” and asked in return, if Trump really is “racist,” then “why did NBC give him a show for a decade on TV?” It was a reasonable question from Fox News correspondent John Roberts that says more about the network that hired Trump to host The Apprentice than it does about the man currently occupying the Oval Office. Complicating matters is the racist behavior that The Daily Beast reported Trump allegedly displayed on the set of that show. After Trump launched his presidential campaign in 2015 by labeling Mexican immigrants “rapists,” NBC did cut ties with him. However, after he was elected, the network allowed him to retain an executive producer credit on a revamped version of The Celebrity Apprentice.
