In a series of fiery interviews on Thursday, beginning with George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America, short-lived White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci defended President Donald Trump and his family from the harsh allegations laid out by Steve Bannon in Michael Wolff’s controversial new book. Asked specifically about Bannon’s description of a 2016 meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and Russian officials as “treasonous” and “unpatriotic,” Scaramucci said, “There's nobody less treasonous than Don Jr., there's nobody more patriotic,” before clarifying, “perhaps the president is more patriotic than Don Jr., but that’s it.” Scaramucci then asserted that “you're not going to meet a more honest person than Don Jr.,” despite the fact that the first son was caught in a series of lies about that July 2016 meeting after his emails were leaked last summer.
